Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya[3] (born on 14 December 1984)[1][4] is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi television industry.[5]Establishing herself as one of the most popular actresses in the industry,[6] she rose to fame by playing a dual role in Zee TV's serial Banoo Main Teri Dulhann for which she won the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actress in the drama category. Later, she garnered the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role for portraying the character of Dr. Ishita Raman Bhalla in Star Plus's soap opera Ye Hai Mohabbatein and in 2017, she won the dance reality show Nach Baliye.

Biography

Early life

Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya was born on 14 December 1984[4] in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.[8][9] She completed her schooling from Carmel Convent Sr. Sec. School Bhopal and college from Nutan college in Bhopal.[10]Tripathi completed a mountaineering course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi and rifle shooting course from Bhopal Rifle Academy. She holds gold medals in riflery.[11]

Career

Tripathi started her career as an anchor onAkash Vani, Bhopal. She participated inPantene Zee Teen Queen in 2003 and won the title of Miss Beautiful Skin. In 2004, Tripathi participated in India's Best Cinestars Ki Khojand was declared a winner from Bhopal zone.[10] She was crowned Miss Bhopal in 2005.[12]

Tripathi made her acting debut in Telefilms for Doordarshan.[11] She got recognition forZee TV's drama fiction Banoo Main Teri Dulhann by playing dual roles of Vidya, an orphan and illiterate girl and Divya, a modern and literate girl.[13] She won many awards for her performance in the show including theIndian Television Academy Award for Best Actress in Drama Category[14] and the Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face.[15] She then featured in the second season of Star Plus's horror thriller Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai.[16][better source needed] Later she played the role of Rashmi Sharma, a housewife in SAB TV's comedy drama Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale.[17]

Since 2013, she portrays the character of Dr. Ishita Bhalla, an infertile dentist who marries a Chief Executive Officer, in order to provide maternal affection to his daughter in Ekta Kapoor's show Ye Hai Mohabbatein oppositeKaran Patel.[18][19] Her portrayal of Ishita won her many awards and nominations such as the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role,[20] the Lions Gold Award for Best Actress in Lead Role, the Boroplus Gold Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.[21] In 2015, she received a Shan-E-Bhopal Award.[22]In 2016, she received six awards at Star Parivaar Awards[23] and two awards at the Gold Awards for Face of The Year and Best Actress in a Lead Role.[24]

In 2017, she participated in Nach Baliye 8 with her husband Vivek Dahiya and won the show.[25]

On 16 January 2016, Tripathi got engaged to her Ye Hai Mohabbatein co-actor Vivek Dahiya.[26][27] The couple got married on 8 July 2016 in Bhopal.
